Someone's Watching Me

And because of my chains, most of the brothers and sisters have become confident in the Lord and dare all the more to proclaim the gospel without fear.
— Philippians 1:14 (NIV)

It’s a common misconception that when you become saved and live a life dedicated to Christ you won’t experience any trouble or setbacks. But salvation is not some sort of Buzz Lightyear, magic force field that keeps all of the bad, yucky stuff away. In fact, Christ tells us that when we dedicate our lives to following Him we will be blessed one hundredfold, but He also warns us about the persecution that comes along with it.

When you suffer as a believer, know that you’re in God’s territory and thank God He can turn around any situation to use it for your good and His. Just as Paul’s experiences in the first chapter of Philippians built up confidence within his community, so will yours. God wants to use you as an example to encourage others. He restores you from your brokenness so that others will believe all the more in Christ and share His goodness with the world. Doubt and fear will be replaced with confidence and boldness, and because of your broken chains the gospel will be proclaimed!

I am not ashamed

Heavenly Father, thank You for using me to give confidence to my brothers and sisters to proclaim the gospel without fear. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
