Who Are You?

For by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy.
— Hebrews 10:14 (NIV)

“I’m a failure.”  “I’m an alcoholic.” “I’m a weed-head.” “I’m an over-eater.” “Seems like I just can’t get right!”

So often we define ourselves by what we do, but that’s not who we are! Once you accept Christ as your Savior, you become His child and you are perfect in His eyes. No amount of obedience or disobedience can change God’s love for you. When you fall short, you don’t have to feel defeated or worry that God will no longer bless you. God never intended for His Word to condemn you or beat you over the head. His word is there to encourage you, to point you in the right direction, and to let you know He’s not finish with you yet—He’s just beginning His good work in you.

The next time you make a mistake, remember who you are! You’re not an alcoholic. You’re not a drug addict. Those are things you’ve done. You are a child of God. You are a joint heir with Christ. Every day, Jesus is making you more and more like Him. Just keep growing and obeying God’s Word, and remember that Jesus is here to deliver you from the evil that surrounds you, not to condemn you or remind you of it.

I am who You say I am

Heavenly Father, thank You for making me perfect in your eyes. I confess my sin to You today and accept Your deliverance. Continue to perform Your work in me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
— This is my prayer
