Why Me?

Think of all the hostility he endured from sinful people; then you won’t become weary and give up.
— Hebrews 12:3 (NLT)

Jesus provided us with the perfect example of how to love others and live in obedience to God. While on earth, He taught about love and giving more than anything else. Not only did He teach it, but He demonstrated it in action by the sacrifice of His life so that we might live. Nothing you haven’t heard before, right? But how often do you think about the fact that Christ loved, gave, and sacrificed for those that didn’t love him too.

When you’re picked on, passed over, or the topic of the latest gossip, you don’t have to become weary or give up. Think of Christ’s example of how to deal with those who treat you unfairly. Jesus was beaten and the recipient of unmentionable hostility—and He did no wrong. Even while being crucified, He prayed for those against Him. Jesus knew God would exalt Him above all and God will do the same for you. Hold on, don’t give up, and go through it. Christ is with you and though a weapon may be formed against you, it will not prosper.

The ability to endure an unpleasant situation

Heavenly Father, thank You for the example in Christ that You gave me. I know I have the power to love my enemy and pray for those who spitefully use me. I will not become weary or give up when I am persecuted for Your sake because You are with me. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
