Used, But Not Abused

Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?’
And I said, ‘Here am I. Send me!’
— Isaiah 6:8 (NIV)

I remember playing a game called “Duck, Duck, Goose” in elementary school. A chosen kid would walk around a circle of children sitting on the floor as they patted each one on the head while saying, “duck.” If that person touched your head and said “goose,” you’d have to spring up as fast as you could to catch that person before they ran completely around the circle and sat in your spot on the floor. I recall sitting crossed legged on the floor hoping they’d yell “goose” when they touched my head so I could jump up and show everyone how good I was at this game. But more than anything, I felt special being singled out amongst all those ducks.

Know that you are special to God. He’s blessed you with spiritual gifts and supplied you with talents to support those gifts. Scripture says the eyes of the Lord run throughout the whole earth looking for someone He can show Himself strong through. He wants you to spring up as fast as you can to do His will. You don’t have to be a duck, sitting and waiting to get picked. You can shout to the mountains “Send me, Lord! I’ll go.” No matter how long you have been saved – yesterday or 40 years ago – you are equipped and ready to accept your mission from God knowing He’s with you every step of the way.

You just keep on using me…

Heavenly Father, thank You for creating me to be used to do Your will. I will go wherever You send me knowing You are with me every step of the way. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
