Lean on Me

Without good direction, people lose their way; the more wise counsel you follow, the better your chances.
— Proverbs 11:14 (MSG)

If you consider yourself the smartest person among your friends, it may be time for you to get some new friends. Of course I’m not suggesting you go about choosing friends based on their professional credentials; however, friends should add value to your life, not depreciate it. The scripture says without good direction we lose our way. As a believer, it is essential that you surround yourself with those who are good role models—not only in word, but action as well. You better your chances when you are able to observe others being successful and practicing obedience to God.

I often tell my children that a true friend will not try to influence you to do anything that goes against what I’ve taught you at home. As disciples of Christ, we too should not be easily influenced by anyone who opposes the wise counsel of God. Intentionally seek wise counsel concerning your situation today and improve your chances of success. You’ll be happy you did.

Friends...How many of us have them?

Heavenly Father, I will seek wise counseling to better my chances in life. I know You will place people in my life to provide me with direction that is pleasing to You. Your voice I will follow. Your way I will seek. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
— This is my prayer
