Lip Service

So is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.
— Isaiah 55:11 (NIV)

“Like a dull knife, just ain’t cutting. Talkin’ loud, then sayin’ nothing” are the opening lyrics from James Brown’s 1970 recorded hit “Talkin’ Loud and Sayin’ Nothing.” It’s said he was influenced to write this song due to politicians’ broken promises to improve the nation’s condition at that time. Faith in government suffers behind political lip service, which is defined as promising but yielding empty talk; words absent of real action or intention. In other words, saying they’ll do one thing, yet doing another, or even worse, pretending they never said it to begin with.

But thank God our Lord is faithful! He has authorized His word to do exactly what He said it would do. That means every promise He’s made to you is waiting for you to claim it. Everything He’s called you in His word you already are. So, live today knowing that every spiritual blessing God has spoken into your life is yours. Take time today to meditate on His promises for you and not the empty promises of the world.

God said it, that settles it

Lord, I receive the many blessings You have spoken over my life. I walk in them today knowing You have already accomplished Your will and purpose for me. I need only to learn of it through Your word and believe. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
— This is my prayer
