A Good Reason to Give

’This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life.’
— John 3:16 (MSG)

Who doesn’t like getting gifts? Whether it’s Christmas, a birthday, or just because, gifts are always a nice gesture to show your love or appreciation for someone. Nice gifts are those a person actually puts thought into. They consider your favorite color or hobby, or know what you actually need to make your life that much easier. But the best gifts are the ones that come without price tags and cannot be purchased in stores.

In today’s scripture, God provides the ultimate example of how to show love through giving. God gave the ones He loved something important to Him – His only Son. We too have this ability. Next time, instead of shopping a gift for a loved one, give them your time or stop by for a visit or conversation. A small sacrifice or inconvenience of your busy schedule will go a long way and create memories that can be shared for years to come. God gave the world Jesus over two thousand years ago, and we’re still talking about that gift!

 Gift of love: Priceless

Heavenly Father, thank You for showing me how much You love me by giving me Your only son. I will show others this same love by giving of myself and sacrificing for the sake of others and You! In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
— This is my prayer
