Just Ask Me

Don’t bargain with God. Be direct. Ask for what you need.
— Matthew 7:7 (MSG)

I learn a lot from watching small children. I find that even when they have yet to develop the ability to verbalize their needs, they manage to get their point across.

Once, I watched as a child began to cry. His father knew he needed to be changed. I watched the same child cry again. This time his father recognized it to be a different cry. This cry was for food. As the child began to walk toward his father, he stumbled and stretched out his hands. Without hesitation, the father knew exactly what his child needed. The father reached down, picked up his son and comforted him. When the child asked for food, he gave it to him.

Our Heavenly Father has what you need in life—you only need to ask. If you want a promotion on your job—ask. If you want to sleep better at night —ask. If you want strength to conquer that obstacle in your life—ask. Jesus says you have not because you ask not.

God wants to know that you believe and trust that He will do it. He wants to show up in our lives and show Himself strong. Allow Him to. So go on…ask Him.

Ask and you will receive

Most Gracious God, thank You for allowing me to come to You in my time of need. I know You will show up right when I need You and show Yourself strong. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
— This is my prayer
