"The Lord's Prayer" Series - Day 9

…for yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
— Matthew 6:13b (NIV)

When Jesus taught us to pray using The Lord’s Prayer, He intended our prayers to be kingdom centered. The model Christ provided provides the example of how the opening and closing of our prayer should acknowledge and praise God for who He is. We acknowledge the kingdom belongs to Him because He is king over everything. The power because He doesn’t have some power, but all power. The glory because God deserves praise and our prayer to Him should reflect that.

The Lord’s Prayer is focused on what we can do for God and others, not what God and others should do for us. Jesus instructed us to use this model when we pray. It’s a prayer to praise God, receive direction from God, and to glorify God. When you pray today, see if your prayer includes each stanza Christ provided us.

The world is Yours

Heavenly Father, You are King of Kings and worthy of all my praise. You have all power over heaven and earth and all within it. I will be careful to give You all the glory forever. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
— This is my prayer
