What a God!

Open your mouth and taste, open your eyes and see—how good GOD is. Blessed are you who run to him.
— Psalm 34:8 (MSG)

Emotions can be something else! Sometimes, I smile uncontrollably thinking about how good God’s been, and in the next instance I’m crying uncontrollably thinking about everything He’s brought me out of. As I child, I recall a mother in our church testifying when she’d proclaim, “If You didn’t do anything else, You’d still be a good God!” Now that I’ve been through some things myself, I know she meant that God had done so much for her today and yesterday, her past reflections of His goodness could last her the rest of her life.

I’m willing to bet whatever discomfort you’re facing today can’t compare to the feeling God gave you when He gently smiled on you in your past. You know. That day when you had no idea how you were going to get by or make it through and He made a way out of no way? Yeah, that day. Or the day you turned around and no one was there to dry your tears, but God stepped in to comfort you? Yep! That day too. What a God we serve that He will bless you just for running to Him. That reminds me. I’m overdue!  Where’d I put those running shoes?

God is good all the time…

Father, I have witnessed Your goodness time and time again. Thank You for Your grace and Your mercy, for You are a good God. You said You’d bless me when I run to You. I open my heart to You and claim Your blessings today. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
