Reward in Prayer

But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
— Matthew 6:6 (NIV)

"The Lord's Prayer" Series - Day 1

In this eight day series we’re going to discuss the model of prayer Jesus gave to us through what a lot of people refer to as “The Lord’s Prayer.” Instead of starting at verse 9 of Matthew chapter 6, I elected to start at verse 6 to set a backdrop and have “a little getting in room” as my pastor would say.

Jesus did not intend for prayer to be for show or a contest to see who has the most knowledge and largest vocabulary. Jesus designed prayer to commune with you. Yes! He wants to talk to you, not just be talked at. See, prayer is a “two-way street,” as well as a demonstration of faith in God. He notices when your prayers rely on Him for solutions and strength. If you don’t have a room to go in or a door to go behind, close the door to your mind! Remove any distracting thoughts and focus on Christ. He wants your full attention during this conversation. It is then Jesus will see you, reward you, and bless you exceedingly and abundantly beyond all you could ask or think.

The up-per rooooooom

Heavenly Father, thank You for teaching me and giving me a way to talk to you. I will take time to talk to You, as well as listen to You. Thank You, Father, for seeing me and rewarding me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
— This is my prayer
