Give It to Me Straight

27th Psalm Series - Day 11

Teach me your way, LORD; lead me in a straight path because of my oppressors.
— Psalm 27:11 (NIV)

To be the best, you have to learn from the best. Traditionally, those who have mastered their trade and defeated competition have punitive rules and routines. Championship boxers have strict diets. Basketball MVPs practice the same shot for hours. Renowned doctors conduct research for years. If you elect to gain their knowledge, they will teach you the methods to gain similar success – without shortcuts. And though it may prove both painful and inconvenient at times, if you stick with it, you’ll find the results were well worth it.

Because the results are so well worth it, you should strive to be a master of life, no matter the cost. You have to be at your best if you want to conquer opposition and obstacles. The most effective way to do this is to follow God’s word. Who better to learn from than the Greatest? Through His teachings you will find the path that will lead you successfully through your trials. You may not always find what He tells you comfortable. Nevertheless, expect God’s word to give it to you straight. If you stick with it, you’ll find the results are better than what you could have ever imagined.

Lead me. Guide me.

Lord, thank You for teaching me You way. I know You will lead me in a straight path regardless of oppression or those that try to oppress me. Guide me to the path You would have me take. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
— This is my prayer
