27th Psalm Series - Day 4

One thing I ask from the LORD, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple.
— Psalm 27:4 (NIV)

I travel a lot and therefore have to stay in hotels frequently. I’ve stayed in hotels that were quaint and comfortable and I’ve stayed in hotels that were more formal and affluent. It’s always nice to get away, meet different people, and see new things, but it’s nothing like finally making it back to my own home with loved ones – and my own bed. Sure, I may have had a great time, but nothing compares to being back home.

While on earth we will experience some amazing times, accomplish prodigious goals, but to dwell in the house of the Lord is unparalleled! After everything Paul had accomplished in life, his ultimate request was to go home and look upon God’s beauty there. When I think about being engulfed in God’s glory, knowing that is my future, every problem that’s pricking me seems to fade away. It also helps me focus everything I do or am involved with toward Paul’s appeal – to get back home.

I’ll take you there

Heavenly Father, I look forward to dwelling with You in Your house. Thank You for hearing my request. I look forward to seeing You in all your beauty and glory. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
— This is my prayer
