Between You and Jesus

Then Peter came to Him and said, ‘Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Up to seven times?’ Jesus said to him, ‘I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven.’
— MATTHEW 18:21 – 22 (NKJV)

God wants you to forgive. (I could stop there, but I’ll keep going just in case you need more encouragement.) Forgiveness is more about your relationship with Christ more so than your relationship with the person you are forgiving. You see, forgiveness is between you and Jesus. It’s a reflection of your faith in Him and how much you trust Him. (You probably wish I’d stopped at the opening sentence now. LOL!)

You have an old friend you need to forgive. You have a child, ex-spouse, co-worker, political figure, celebrity, or plain old hater you need to let go of a grudge with. Why? Because Jesus wants you to forgive. And when you’re able to forgive, you’re trusting God to protect you. You’re exercising your faith in God. The people you need to forgive have done something that Christ allowed to happen that will grow you and groom you into what He has created you to be. But you won’t see it while you’re holding on to unforgiveness.

Heavenly Father, I have faith in You and I trust You. Today, I forgive those who have done wrong by me. I promise to make forgiveness a lifestyle. Thank You for forgiving me and protecting me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

This is my prayer
