Fill Your Jars

Jesus said to the servants, ‘Fill the jars with water’; so they filled them to the brim.
— JOHN 2:7 (NIV)

Jesus’ first miracle recorded was at a wedding at Cana in Galilee. This is where Jesus turned water into wine. It is recorded in John that when the wine was tasted by the master of the banquet he pulled the bridegroom aside and said, “You saved the best wine for last!” It was custom to serve the best wine first and then serve a lower quality of wine after guest had their fill, but Jesus took the jars filled with water and provided the best wine for last.

I’m sure the servants looked at Jesus like He was crazy. They probably thought, “We need wine, not water.” They had no idea how Jesus was going to bless the entire party, but they did as they were commanded. Jesus wants you to fill your jars. In other words, He wants you to obey His command even when you may not understand so that He can bless you with His best. And in order for you to receive the best today, you have to fill your jars. Don’t ask questions. Don’t try to figure it out. Just do whatever Jesus is telling you to do today and receive your best blessing right now!

Yes, Jesus!
