Be Happy

And Nehemiah continued, ‘Go and celebrate with a feast of rich foods and sweet drinks, and share gifts of food with people who have nothing prepared. This is a sacred day before our Lord. Don’t be dejected and sad, for the joy of the Lord is your strength!’
— NEHEMIAH 8:10 (NLT)

Isn’t it enough misery in the world without you adding to it? Seems everywhere you turn fighting, strife, lack, pain, hate and suffering are broadcasted and advertised twenty-four hours a day. In fact, that’s why news stations like CNN, Fox, and MSNBC were created: to bring you news all day every day non-stop. And since they won’t stop, you have to stop and remember you have something to be happy about. Afterall, the joy of the Lord is your strength and God wants you to be happy.

You have a lot to be happy for. Everything may not be going exactly the way you planned it, but that shouldn’t stop you from being happy. When you suffer, be happy that God sustains you. When you’re weak, be happy Jesus strengthens you. When you’re feeling alone, be happy you have a comforter in the Holy Spirit. As a matter of fact, you should make a list of all the ways God has blessed you that you are grateful for so that when you’re suffering, doubtful or feeling any lack you can refer to your list and find happiness in the Lord. Remember: no one is responsible for your happiness. You are! And when you look inside yourself to find happiness, the world can’t take it away.

Heavenly Father, this is the day that You have made! I will rejoice and be glad in it! I choose to be happy in You, Lord. I’m tired of sulking and being sad. You created me to be happy and for the rest of my days I’m going to celebrate! In Jesus’ name. Amen.
