Present Help

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
— PSALM 46:1 (NKJV)

We recently moved into our new home. It’s amazing how you don’t realize how much stuff you accumulated over the years until you have to pack it all. We strategically made our move, packing things throughout the week and gradually moving things room by room, box by box. Many of our good friends offered to help us. “Let me know if you need any help” they would say. “Call me if you need me.” I knew, at any time, I could call our friends and they would come help. And a couple times, we did!

It’s a nice feeling to know you can count on your friends to help you, but it’s an even greater feeling to know that God is ever present to help you in your time of trouble. When you call on God for help, you don’t have to wait for His schedule to clear. You don’t have to hope He can work you in on His calendar. God is your refuge and strength and He’s always with you when you need His help. Call on Him in the middle of your trouble. Call on Him when you can’t sleep. Even when you don’t need anything, just call the name of Jesus. But when you are in need of help, remember God is always present.

I need You, Lord
