Knows Best

This is what the LORD says—your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: ‘I am the LORD your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go.
— ISAIAH 48:17 (NIV)

I had no idea being trained to not talk with my mouth full, would help me represent myself well at business dinners. I had no idea being made to wash dishes, vacuum and keep a clean room at mom’s house would later influence how I kept my own house. I must admit, I didn’t like doing chores. I kind of didn’t like doing anything my mother told me to do that wasn’t closely associated to being outside, hanging with friends or playing my Atari 7800, but she knew what was best and her teachings and direction still guide me today.

Even more so than good parenting, God knows what’s best for you. He will teach you and direct you in the way you should go. That way isn’t always what you want to do, but what you need to do in order to become who God designed. Who wants to forgive people that only mean them heartache and stress? Who wants to love their enemy? Who wants to cheerfully give above a tithe? Who wants to attend worship service, prayer service and bible study? I’ll tell you who. A believer who has faith God is in control. A disciple who understands they are nothing without Jesus. A child of God who believes God knows best. Allow Christ to direct every facet of your life even when you don’t understand the why’s. In time, all will be revealed and I guarantee you’ll like what you see.
