“And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.”
Love is extremely important to Jesus. The word love is mentioned over 700 times in the bible and when compared to faith and hope, Paul says love is the greatest. Love is included as one of three things God gave us instead of fear: power, love and a sound mind. It’s even used when describing the greatest example of giving: For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son. Love is so powerful, Christ instructed us to hang all the other laws and prophets on two commandments that were based on loving God and loving others. So why is love so important to Jesus?

I believe it’s because Jesus knew with love as your foundation, your goal would be for His will to be done in earth as is it in heaven. He knows that only love can drive out hate. He knows that love is the only reason you would lay down your life for another. He knows that the only way you would keep His commandments is by love. He knows that love is the key ingredient to walking in obedience, faith, hope, peace and forgiveness. With love, you can inherit the kingdom of God, but without love you are nothing. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. Try love.
