Faith Is Confidence

Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.
— HEBREWS 11:1 (NIV)

When you flip a light switch, you don’t see the energy surging from the power company to your home. When a summer breeze cools your environment, you may not see it coming, but its effects are undeniable. The chair you sit in or the bed you lay on daily are built out of materials you’ve never tested, but you blindly trust that they will support you. How can so much confidence exist in something unseen? I’ll tell you…

The wind blows every day without fail. If you pay your bills, you know when you flip that switch there will be power. You trust your chair or bed because you’ve used them over and over and they’ve always worked. Your confidence has produced a faith that causes you to have assurance in these things even though you don’t see how they work. You just have faith that they will because they have before. Apply this same concept to life and how many times that God has worked things out for you. You don’t know how Jesus is going to bring you through whatever you’re facing today at work, in your relationship, health wise or your levels of stress, but you do know if He did it before, He will do it again. Faith is confidence. Exercise your faith today in Christ over your current situation and blindly trust in what you can’t see.
