Hometown

‘Truly I tell you,’ he continued, ‘no prophet is accepted in his hometown.’
— LUKE 4:24 (NIV)

The gift that you have is needed. God blessed you with a unique gift and unique purpose that cannot be duplicated by anyone else. Sure, there are some talented people that can fill the void should you choose not to accept your mission from God, but no one can do what you were meant to do better. And, if you decide to not do what Jesus has called you to do on this earth, the world, and everyone one in it, will be at a loss.

Here’s the kicker… Even though your gifts are from God, everyone will not be able to accept them. And that’s fine. You may not get the support you feel you should from your family, friends or sometimes even your church, but that does not mean you should stop. No, it just means God has a different audience to be blessed by you. You may never know or see the people your gift has blessed, which is why you should use it in a manner pleasing to God and not others. If your hometown isn’t supportive of you while you’re working in your gift, look to Christ for direction. He will always lead you to those in need.
