If You Knew

Now Jesus was going up to Jerusalem. On the way, he took the Twelve aside and said to them, ‘We are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be delivered over to the chief priests and the teachers of the law. They will condemn Him to death and will hand Him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and flogged and crucified. On the third day He will be raised to life!’
— MATTHEW 20:17 – 19 (NIV)

Does it ruin it for you when you know how a movie ends? Do you stay clear of articles that boast spoiler alerts and tells you who dies at the end or how they get away with the crime? It doesn’t for me! If the movie is good, it’ll still be good when I see it. Even better, if I knew how it ends, it would still be interesting to see how it all unfolds. What if you knew how your story ended? Would you even want to know?

Jesus knew the details of His life from beginning to end. He knew He’d be delivered into the hands of hate from His friend’s betrayal, condemned to death, flogged and crucified. But that’s not how the story ends – three days later, He rose again. In your story, you’re going to have some rough spots. You may be treated bad, wrongfully persecuted, lied on, cheated, but that’s not how your story ends. Jesus has went to prepare a place for you. You have eternal life. But before you get to that point of your story, Jesus has some wonderful things for you to enjoy now. He’s given you favor. He’s given you grace and mercy. All the good things you need for the perfect story.
