Who Do You Love?

If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that?
— MATTHEW 5:46 – 47 (NIV)

It’s easy to love those who love you. We love our parents almost by default whether they did everything for us or missed a few birthdays. We may not like our siblings all the time, but because of our love for them, we’d do anything for them. Our close friends that are there for us through thick and thin will always have a place in our hearts, but when you love those who love you, what reward will you get?

Jesus prayed for those who hated Him and ultimately murdered Him. He taught and loved those He knew would betray Him. This godly love is the kind of love Jesus wants you to share with the world. Exercising agape love will stretch you, grow you, and bless you. And if you are a disciple of Christ you must follow every example He gave – including how He loved. You can’t choose who you love. Christ wants you to love everyone and everything He created. By doing this, you show that you love and follow Christ. So, who do you love?

Heavenly Father, I will follow the example of love that You have provided me. I will not only love those that love me, but those who do not know Your love. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
