One Bite At A Time

Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the Word planted in you, which can save you.
— JAMES 1:21 (NIV)

There is an old saying that helps us mentally prepare for dealing with and accomplishing large tasks, goals or project. The saying is, “How do you eat an elephant?” with the simplistic answer being, “One bite at a time.” The idea is to prevent you from becoming overwhelmed with the size of your endeavor and focus more on chipping away at it bit-by-bit, making more progress each day.

This may be a good way for you to tackle the sin in your life. You don’t have to become a monk over night, but achieving a godly life should be in your horizon. If you look over your life and see an abundance (elephant) of sin in it, you can become overwhelmed. The good thing is, you don’t have to get rid of it alone. You have the Word of God planted in you which can save you. Make the decision to stop one sin at a time. Stop lying today. Stop participating in recreational drug use. Stop having premarital sex. Stop cussing. Stop staying home on Sundays and go to church. Stop robbing GOD and tithe. Most of all stop waiting until you have it all together to stop sinning. Get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent in your life one bite at a time. And when you’ve succeeded, help someone else eat their sin elephant.

Daily progress is key
