Help In Many Forms

I lift up my eyes to the mountains—where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.
— PSALM 121:1 – 2 (NIV)

There was a man trapped on his roof during a terrible flood. He prayed that the Lord would help him. As the waters rose higher, some people on a raft came by and told the man to get in. The trapped man said, “No! I’m waiting for God to help me!” As the waters rose even higher, a helicopter came to rescue the man. The trapped man said again, “No! I’m waiting for God to help me!” The water eventually overtook the man and he drowned. When he came face to face with God the man asked, “Lord, why didn’t you help me?” God replied, “I sent people in a raft and in a helicopter! You refused my help!”

If you’re waiting for God in the form of a burning bush or a parted sea, you’ll probably be waiting for a long time. Today, God uses people to help people. Don’t allow your pride to stand in the way of what God is trying to do for you through other people. It’s OK to accept help – even from your enemy. Scripture says the wealth of the wicked is stored up for the righteous. So, God can even use the devil to help you! No matter the form in which your help comes to you tomorrow, remember your help comes from the Lord. And since He’s the Maker of heaven and earth, God can use anything or anyone to get the help to you that you need.
