“If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.”
It always amazes me to hear when wealthy people or celebrities confess how unhappy or unsatisfied they are with life. Some complain about emptiness, being lonely, not knowing who their real friends are while others seek operations to change their looks, buy things to improve their status, or define who they are. It really goes to show that there is no benefit to having all the money or material things in the world, if you don’t have love.

Scripture says, “God is love” and I believe that’s often overlooked when we consider love. With God as your focus and foundation, you’re able to prioritize and enjoy what life has to offer. When you understand God is love and live by this, you’re able to evaluate what love is and is not. You’ll know how to use love and how to give love. People won’t be able to run over you or misuse you. Knowing God is love will help you understand why He gifted you and how to use those gifts for His glory and find total fulfillment in your life. Today, make sure God is at the center of all your love and make Christ your priority.
