You Must Listen

The LORD your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you, from your fellow Israelites. You must listen to him.
— DEUTERONOMY 18:15 (NIV)

We’ve all had “I wish I would have listened” moments in life. Whether our parents told us the right thing to do a long time ago or a friend told us not to try something that we thought differently of, hindsight is always 20/20. Sometimes, the best advice can come from the most unlikely person, because of how they look, their own failures, or just who they are, we sometimes ignore them and forget that GOD can use anyone anytime He wants to tell us something.

So how do you know when to listen? Here’s the deal: GOD can and will speak to you. Don’t believe for a second that you cannot hear from GOD. What He tells you will always be reaffirmed. Either your pastor will be preaching about what Jesus has put in your spirit or maybe a close friend will casually touch on the situation you’re pondering over. This is not ironic or coincidental. GOD will send people into your life to confirm what He has already said to you. Don’t brush it aside. You must listen. Don’t judge the person, but listen to the message. If what’s said is of GOD, aligns with scripture and Christ’s will for you, listen! Don’t experience another “I wish I would have listened” moment again.

Heavenly Father, thank You for sending people into my life that love You and speak Your Word to me. Give me a heart and mind to listen when others affirm Your message to me. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
