There's Nothing Better Than Love

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
— 1 CORINTHIANS 13:13 (NIV)

I get on my wife’s nerves. I pretty much cause the majority of our arguments and this week I am on a roll! I mean, it was something literally every day this week so far and my inability to see how my actions were at the root of each issue doesn’t help either. Then, I stopped to think about it; I’m crazy, but I’m not this crazy! Is it the full moon we’ve had the last 4 nights? Nah, it’s just the devil up to his old tricks in a new way using me to steal, kill and destroy our love. During these arguments, the last thing on my mind is scripture because it’s totally consumed by me trying to prove why I’m right. And that’s not love.

Love never fails, but sometimes we should stop and remind ourselves what love is. Being around someone day after day can cause us to temporarily forget what love is and how to love. That’s when we fail. And not just what love is pertaining to our spouses, but the relationships we have with our parents, our family or friends. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. There’s no room for failure with this kind of love and when we execute love in this manner, we’ll find there’s nothing better!

Love never fails

Heavenly Father, thank You for showing me how to love. I will seek Your way and Your will. The devil is defeated and is not welcome in my relationships. I rebuke him and his tactics. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
