Right From Wrong

But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.
— JOHN 14:26 (NIV)

There is something that makes you stop at a red light other than its color.  There’s something that makes you place plastic in a recycling bin instead of the nearby trash can. There is something that won’t allow you to say certain things around certain people out of respect. That something is your knowing right from wrong.

You’ve been taught that it’s wrong to steal, so you don’t. You’ve been taught it’s right to hold a door open for people, so you do. These lessons of life are stored inside you and when the opportunity presents itself, you automatically respond with what you’ve been taught. The Holy Spirit does this with God’s Word. Once you have studied scripture or listen to a preached word, that word is stored into your spirit, and when the opportunity presents itself, the Holy Spirit will remind you of everything you’ve been taught. The Holy Spirit will remind you what’s right and what’s wrong, what to say and what to do. You only need to give the Spirit in you something to remind you when the time comes.

Is it in you?

Heavenly Father, thank You for the Advocate You’ve given me through the Holy Spirit that will teach me all things and remind me of everything You have said to me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
