Peace and Prosperity

My son, do not forget my teaching, but keep my commands in your heart, for they will prolong your life many years and bring you peace and prosperity.
— PROVERBS 3:1 – 2 (NIV)

Today’s scripture helps us understand why relationship is so much more important than religion. With religion, we sometimes get caught up with the idea of attending church and bible study regularly and thinking we’ve done our Christian duty. With relationship, we’re more concerned with understanding God’s teaching and keeping the commands of Christ. With religion, we tend to be concerned with knowing what the Word says, but when we seek a relationship with Jesus, the concern is being able to live out what the Word says.

When you apply the Word of God to your everyday living, you are remembering God’s teachings and keeping His commands in your heart. Scripture reveals this is how you prolong your life for many years and fill it with God’s peace and prosperity. There are many books written about how to live a peaceful life or how to live long and prosper. While they may be good supplements, don’t forget God’s teachings and the way He’s told you how to obtain His peace and prosperity. Seek a relationship with God and not just practice religion. Find ways to apply what you’ve learned in God’s Word to your life. Peace and prosperity are well within your reach my friend.
