Never Forsaken

I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread.
— PSALM 37:25 (NIV)

One of my favorite NBA coaches, Gregg Popovich, coaches the San Antonio Spurs. Famously referred to as Pop, he runs a successful basketball team, having several championships, as well as Hall of Famers that have played for him. I once read while coaching a player, Pop told him if he stopped smoking marijuana and played by his rules for a season, he could guarantee they’d win a championship. The player gave up his rules to adopt the coach’s rules and in 2003 won an NBA championship.

Psalm 84:11 says the Lord is your sun and your shield. He gives you grace and glory. No good thing will He withhold from you because you walk upright. In order to get this championship of a blessing, God requires you to be righteous. And when you give up your set of rules for righteousness, you allow God to bless you and your family. Since the beginning of time, God has never forsaken the righteous.  Make the choice this week to let go of your set of rules, adopt God’s, and win your championship today!
