“Jesus said to him, ‘Let the dead bury their own dead, but you go and proclaim the kingdom of God.’”
In today’s scripture, Jesus commands people to follow Him. The people agree to follow Him, but had some form of excuse or “things to do” that prevented them from following Christ immediately. They didn’t realize Jesus had already considered whatever things they had to do before He asked them to follow Him. Likewise, Jesus knows your situation and in order for Christ to bless you, increase you, exceedingly abundantly, you have to relinquish whatever is stopping you from following Him and bury it.
If you have a dead relationship stopping you from following Christ, bury it. If you have a dead career goal stopping you from realizing what Jesus has for you, bury it. If you have thoughts of failure, insecurities, or self-hatred that prevent you from becoming what God wants you to become, bury it! Don’t hold on to dead things in your life or plans that didn’t work out. God has more for you, but in order to see what Christ has for you, you have to let dead stuff die. Let the dead bury their own dead, but you go and proclaim the kingdom of God and all it has for you!
