On A Mission

For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.
— LUKE 19:10 (NIV)

Do you know where you're going to?
Do you like the things that life is showing you?
Where are you going to, do you know?

These lyrics come from the song Do You Know Where You’re Going To, made famous by Diana Ross. The song opens asking some important questions that can be easily answered if you know your purpose in Christ and have set goals to achieve your full, God-given potential.  When you know who you are and your purpose, you understand what fits in your life and what doesn’t, the type of people you should have around you, how and what to spend your money on, and even what tasks to say yes to or no to when people ask certain things of you.

Jesus was on a mission. He knew His purpose was to seek and to save the lost and anything that didn’t line up with seeking and saving the lost, Jesus didn’t do. Likewise, you have a mission. It’s important to understand that mission, and set boundaries, so that everything you do, say, and are a part of lines up with your mission. Just because it’s a good idea doesn’t mean you have to do it or just because someone asks you nicely doesn’t mean you can’t say no. God has something specific for you to do and when you do these things, blessings will overtake you. When you’re on your mission, you will be focused on where you’re going and like the things that life is showing you.

Heavenly Father, thank You for giving me purpose. I am on a mission to do what You’ve created me to do. Give me the courage and strength to live out my God-given potential. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
