TRUST AND LISTENING

Let the wise listen and add to their learning, and let the discerning get guidance.
— PROVERBS 1:5 (NIV)

Sometimes we put ourselves through too much unnecessary grief by dealing with our problems alone. We stress over career decisions. We allow the mole hills in our marriages to grow into mountains. We let self-esteem cripple our God given potential. It can be difficult opening up to people for many reasons. We have to have the courage to admit we have a problem. We have to be able to trust. We have to put behind the past pain of someone breaking our confidence. But in that one person you can trust, God has planted a Word of advice He has for you.

Unfortunately, God isn’t burning bushes or speaking through the winds anymore. Outside of studying His Word and prayer, God uses people to get His messages to you. There is safety for you in godly counsel. You don’t have to tell everybody your business (and please don’t), but God has placed at least one person in your life you can talk to, listen to, learn from, and gain guidance. God doesn’t want you to suffer alone. He’s made the body of Christ fitly joined together to support one another. Every once in a while, that support has a godly message for your problems. Don’t drown in your situation another day. Open up to someone you trust.

Heavenly Father, I will listen to wise counsel and add to my learning. Lord, use those in my life to help guide me on the path You’ve set for me. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
