“And being in agony, He prayed more earnestly. Then His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground.”
Prayer is the primary tool used to communicate with God. It is through prayer we receive direction and maintain focus concerning the purpose God has for us. As Christians, today is symbolic remembering the night Jesus prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane before His wrongful, yet predestined, arrest. He prayed that God would take the task of being crucified away from Him. Jesus prayed over His problem and in doing so, regain focus of the plan God had for His life.
When you’re faced with problems, lose focus, are tempted, or in need of direction, follow Jesus’ example and pray to your Father. God has a way of revealing solutions to your problems, getting your mind back right, delivering you from temptation, and ordering your steps when you pray. The bible doesn’t record what God said to Jesus after He requested this cup be taken from Him, but whatever was said was enough for Christ to endure the cross on our behalf. Imagine what perfect and powerful word God has awaiting you the next time you choose prayer over problems.
