Private Prayer. Public Reward.

But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.
— MATTHEW 5:6 (NKJV)

As believers it’s important we pray corporately with other believers. Weekly prayer service is where unity and strength can be established while praying about issues that plague our communities, hinder our youth, and challenge the body of Christ. After all, Jesus said His house should be called a house of prayer – it would be kinda crazy if we never prayed there. But church isn’t the only place you can pray. God wants to talk to you and hear from you more than just twice a week.

While corporate prayer is important, your personal prayer life is essential. It’s where you not only receive individual direction that affects the entire body of Christ, but also where you establish your intimate relationship with God. Christ instructs the believer to have private prayer with God. Be sure you have a secret place or quiet time set aside just for you to speak with God and allow Him to speak to you. Jesus assures whatever you pray privately will be publicly rewarded for all to witness God’s goodness.

Heavenly Father, thank You for allowing me to come to You in prayer. I know You will hear my private prayer and publicly reward me for Your glory. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
