Deep Breath

Do not be quickly provoked in your spirit, for anger resides in the lap of fools.
— ECCLESIASTES 7:9 (NIV)

Yes. I saw what he did to you. Mmm hmm. I heard what she said to you. But now, you have a choice. Do you allow their actions to control you, or the Holy Spirit that resides inside of you?

Let me stop you. No. I don’t have it all together. I still have work to do in this area as well. Not as much today, but there was a time I used to pride myself in how witty and quick I would get back at people for doing me wrong. As I matured, I realized getting back at them temporarily gratified me, but at the same time, made me look just as much a fool as them! Today, I take a deep breath and think about the reactions my actions will have. The peace in my spirit is way more important than me getting a piece of them on Twitter or Facebook. Don’t allow your spirit to be quickly provoked. Instead, take a deep breath and picture your haters in your rear view mirror or as your footstool.

Heavenly Father, as You protect me from my enemies I will not be quickly provoked in my spirit. Anger no longer resides in my lap. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
