Love For All

You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven…
— MATTHEW 5:43 – 45 (NIV)

My daughter often complains about how difficult high school homework can be. She grows frustrated when I laugh and reply to her outcry with “The harder, the better!” I’ve explained to her the level of difficulty in your school work is preparing you for the next level in your academic career, as well as life, and if it were easy, chances are, you wouldn’t be learning anything new including learning about yourself.

When it comes to loving people that love you, that’s easy. The test is if you can love people that don’t love you back. Jesus says to love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you. (It’s hard to hate someone while you’re praying for them.) This commandment from Christ can prove difficult at times, but loving your enemy will prepare you spiritually for the next level in life God has prepared for you. So when it gets hard for you to deal with the people around you, remember, God put them there for you to learn more about yourself and catapult you to your next level.

Heavenly Father, I can do all things through You including loving my enemies and praying for those who persecute me. I am Your child and nothing is impossible for me. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
