What's In A Word?

Grace and peace to you from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
— 2 THESSALONIANS 1:2

Most people are guilty of using shorthand or impersonal speech when communicating with others. No one hardly says, “God bless you” anymore if someone sneezes. If someone says anything at all, you may only hear a “Bless you.” Instead of saying, “Thank you” we type “Thx” without the "you."  In these short days and fast times, we should make every effort to assure we leave people with words they can take with them and change their lives for the better.

Expressive greetings and words of encouragement are found throughout scripture before prophets engaged their reading audiences. They often reflect the love God has for them or even reminds them who they are in Christ. The words you speak have the power to give life. Proclaim God’s grace over your family. Speak the peace of Christ into the lives of your friends. Take the time to bless someone with your words. Just because you can only text and tweet 140 characters, doesn’t mean you have the same limitations while speaking a blessing into someone’s life.

Heavenly Father, I will use my words to speak life into my brothers and sisters so they too may experience Your grace and peace. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
