Give Them Light

You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.
— MATTHEW 5:14 – 15 (NIV)

It’s said that most accidents are likely to take place in your home. It’s a place you’re most familiar with so many of your routine actions and activities are taken for granted and leave room for error. Beneden’s site says the top 10 most common accidents to happen in the home are:

1.       Falling objects                    6.      Burns

2.       Trips and Falls                    7.      Choking

3.       Bruises                                8.      Poisoning

4.       Sprains                                9.      Glass-related injuries

5.       Cuts                                   10.      Drowning

Most of these home accidents can be prevented by providing some light. I don’t necessarily mean light that’s generated from a light bulb. I’m referring to light given through information to those unaware. “Don’t go in the kitchen. I just mopped” could prevent a trip and fall. “Slow down! Don’t eat so fast!” could prevent someone from choking. Just like with informational light to prevent accidents, you also have spiritual light too.

See, Jesus says you are the light of the world, and through your study of God’s Word, you have spiritual light that can give light to everyone in the house. Don’t keep this light hidden or to yourself. Give them light to prevent child abuse and drug abuse. Give them light to stop hate, jealousy, and gossip. Give them light so they too can stop living in the dark and follow Christ with you
