Don't Fall For It

Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.
— 1 PETER 5:8 (NIV)

My daughter was explaining to us an issue she had at school with a student she accidentally bumped into. My daughter immediately apologized but the student responded by saying, “You’re not sorry! You did that on purpose!” My daughter said she couldn’t hear what else she was saying because she kept walking away knowing that if she did not, she may have gotten into trouble. I’m so proud she was alert and didn’t fall for the trap!

The enemy can use others and their actions to get you into unnecessary trouble, throw you off track, or prevent you from receiving a blessing from God. Like my daughter, don’t waste your time falling for Satan’s tricks. His job is to make it seem like you have to react negatively or be something Christ didn’t create you to be. Scripture describes him as “prowling around like a roaring lion.” He’s not the king of the jungle! He just wants you to think he is. You serve the King of kings who has already defeated your adversary. So, stay alert and of sober mind. Don’t fall for the devil’s tricks – not matter who he tries to use. Keep walking and stay out of trouble!

Nope! Not today Satan!

Heavenly Father, I will be alert and of sober mind by not falling for the devil’s tricks. I will practice self-control and remember You are always in control. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
