Come And Talk To Me

Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to your neighbor, for we are all members of one body.
— EPHESIANS 4:25 (NIV)

Let’s face it, we all think we know something about someone that the rest of the world does not have knowledge of. We know something someone has done wrong or maybe is doing wrong and have not spoken to that individual about it. It’s very rare that we go to that person and express how and why what we think they are doing is wrong. Instead, what usually happens is, we tell others, that can’t do anything helpful about the situation, what we’ve heard or think we know. My brothers and sisters, this activity hurts the body of Christ.

Before you report what you think you know to the boss, teacher, pastor, close relative or friend, go to your brother or sister and speak truthfully to them. Explain your concern. Don’t take for granted that they understand right from wrong or understand the potential damage their actions may cause. Talking with your brother or sister will strengthen the body of Christ instead of tearing it down from the inside. After your talk, you may find out what you thought you knew was wrong or even better yet, you gain a friend instead of losing one.

Heavenly Father, I will put off falsehoods and speak truthfully to my brothers and sisters. I realize we are all part of Your body and I must edify its members. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
