Be Different

For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does.
— 2 CORINTHIANS 10:3 (NIV)

People hold Christians to a higher standard. The moment we step out of line to give someone a piece of our mind, the first thing a non-believer says is, “You’re supposed to be a Christian!” As much as hearing that statement irritates me, you know what? They’re right.

As followers of Christ, we can’t allow ourselves to handle situations the way the world does. We have to be different. Scripture calls us a peculiar people. That means we are supposed to stand out from the crowd and be easily identified as ambassadors of Christ. So, even though we live in the world, we can’t act like the world. We’re Christians, so we have to act like Christ. And don’t believe being a Christian means you have to get used to being disrespected and ran over all the time. On the contrary! Last time I checked, Jesus never lost a battle or a war.

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your example. Even though I live in the world, I will not wage war as the world does. I will be different and follow You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
