In life, we can choose to be the temperature gauge or the thermostat. The temperature gage reacts to how cold or hot a room is, while the thermostat controls how cold or hot the room will be. In other words, the environment controls the temperature gauge, but the thermostat controls the environment.

As a believer, model yourself after the thermostat. If you want your environment and community to become more infused with the love of Christ, then turn up the heat instead of reacting to it. When the enemy presents hate, you present love instead. Where there is darkness, you be the light. Bless those that curse you and pray for them that spitefully use you. It’ll become contagious before you know it! When you treat others as you would have them treat you, your acts of God’s love, Jesus’ kindness, and the Holy Spirit’s compassion with come full circle and change what seemed to be unchangeable all around you.
