Pleasing In Your Sight

May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in Your sight, LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.
— PSALM 19:14 (NIV)

When I was younger, I recall hearing adults say, “Watch your mouth!” whenever one us became slightly disrespectful or said something we shouldn’t say. Of course, as a child, we weren’t born with such prohibited behavior or words. We had to get it from somewhere. Maybe watching an adult or listening to the wrong music, but in order to become actions or words, it had to start somewhere.

At some point in time, you may have been that kid who did or said things that weren’t a very good representation of yourself or of Christ. Knowing more and being able to make better life choices today, you can be more thoughtful of your word usage and meditate on things that are pleasing in the sight of the Lord.  The things you think about and the words you use can have a direct influence over your life and situations. Whatever you’re meditating on comes out of your mouth and eventually becomes your actions. Hmph! Maybe that’s what Joshua was talking about when he said, “Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.”

Heavenly Father, may the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in Your sight, Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
