Being Proactive

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
— PHILIPPIANS 4:13 (NKJV)

Stephen Covey has a book called The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. The first habit he presents is to Be Proactive. He writes, “Be(ing) Proactive is about taking responsibility for your life. You can't keep blaming everything on your parents or grandparents. Proactive people recognize that they are ‘response-able.’ They don't blame genetics, circumstances, conditions, or conditioning for their behavior.”

You don’t have to continue reliving your past mistakes or placing blame on others for where you are in life today. Your genetics, circumstances, conditions, or conditioning of your behavior can only hold you back if you allow them. You can overcome every obstacle no matter how long it’s been rooted in your life. You can do all things through Christ because He gives you strength. Instead of placing blame or highlighting the circumstance in your life, go into prayer with God, be proactive, and focus your energy toward the solution to your problem and start living life again.

Yes, you can!

Heavenly Father, thank You for giving me the strength to do all things. I will no longer place blame on others for where I am in life. I bind any genetics, circumstances, conditions, or conditioning of my behavior that keeps me from being what You have called me to be! In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
