Leave Your Past

As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins.
— EPHESIANS 2:1 (NIV)

Sometimes we allow our past to haunt us. We can’t experience the goodness of the present for holding on to the past. We stress ourselves by wondering what people are thinking. We even sabotage happy times with the guilt of thinking we’re unworthy of being happy. My friend, you couldn’t be more wrong.

Because of Christ, you don’t have to wallow in your past. Leave your past and move on with your life. You are no longer dead in your mistakes, old ways, or sin. You are forgiven! Jesus didn’t come to point a finger or condemn you, so don’t allow yourself or anyone else to do so. He came so that you would have life and life more abundant. Imagine if while you’re driving you spent more time looking at what’s behind you through your rearview mirror instead of paying attention to what’s ahead of you. You’d probably cause more accidents because you were looking behind rather than forward. The windshield in front of you is bigger than the mirror that shows you what’s behind you for a reason—what’s ahead of you is more significant than what’s behind you.
