“Even to your old age and gray hairs I am He, I am He who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue.”
In my youth I was invincible. Well, I thought I was. Growing up in Detroit could prove interestingly adventurous. I was on a first name basis with trouble. I had plenty run-ins, close calls, wrong place wrong time moments, and at the time, didn’t fully understand the danger or appreciated how I made it through each situation unscathed. I was made to go to church, so I knew God, but I wouldn’t find out who God was until much later.
Just like me, it is God who kept you all those years in your youth. There were many times you may have bumped your head against the wall, but it was a lot fewer times because of God. You’ve probably realized now that you aren’t invincible and life does happen when you least expect it, but the same God who sustained you back in the day is sustaining you today too. God said He is the one who even in your old age and gray hairs will sustain you. That means He has no plans to leave you. He promised to carry you and rescue you when you need rescuing. So, if you’re like me and not only know God, but know who He is, I think you and I have a little “make up” praising to do.
