Pass It On

Teach the older men to be temperate, worthy of respect, self-controlled, and sound in faith, in love and in endurance.
— TITUS 2:2 (NIV)

One of the most effective ways of learning is by example. When someone starts a new job at a fast food restaurant, they pair the trainee with someone who has experience. If you’re on a sports team, you have a coach to explain how to perfect your skill and become a better player. From academia to industry, there is always a student/teacher relationship to help you learn and achieve your potential.

God introduces mentorship in today’s scripture. He wants each of us to pass on the values, knowledge, and wisdom we have to others. If there is a lack of respect in our communities, it’s because it has not been taught. If self-control is void, we need to fill the void. After the problem is identified, don’t stop there. Allow the Holy Spirit to guide you to a solution. Jesus taught believers in love, faith, and endurance. Who better to pass this lesson on to the world?

Heavenly Father, thank You for the mentors and examples You’ve placed in my life. I will pass on the values, knowledge, and wisdom You have given me to others. Use me Lord to show someone the way. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
