My Body?

Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.
— 1 CORINTHIANS 6:19 - 20 (NIV)

A lot of people are trying it to see if the effects are true. Matter of fact, there’s thousands of people that do it all the time. Some people do it once, twice, or more times a week! I’ve even heard some people say after doing it, it makes them feel good all over! Others say after trying it, it made them forget about their problems. It’s almost as if their bodies become dependent to it and understand they need it. Oh! What exactly is “it?” Church of course!

Church isn’t a building. You are the church. Your body is God’s temple and it doesn’t belong to you. Sounds crazy, right? But it’s not. God uses your body to house His Holy Spirit within you. No matter what you put on your body or in it. No matter how well you dress it or how many hours you work out. You are not your own. God wants you to honor Him with your body. Live a life pleasing to Him. Attend worship regularly. Study His word at bible study and receive direction at prayer service. Take care of God’s body and give it what it needs.

Heavenly Father, I give myself away to You so that You can use me. My body and life are not my own. To You I belong. Fill me with Your precious spirit as I honor You in every way with my body. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
